Tuesday, June 15 was not just a "regular" Lime Rock Park Test & Tune Day. Yes, the usual assortment of Formula Fords, Spec Racers and various SCCA-class cars were on hand, but adding even more color to the paddock and track were a bunch of NASCAR Whelen Modifieds and K&N Pro series teams
, taking advantage of the test time in preparation for Lime Rock's NASCAR Doubleheader July 2-3.
There were eight Whelen Mods and four K&N stockers on hand. On the Mod side, we must have missed the press release... we were surprised to see Dale Quarterly there. The many-time race winner of Lime Rock's Busch North (now K&N) event is entered into the Modified race July 3. Also, Jonathan Smith was testing a Mike Olsen-owned (Fadden Racing) K&N car, as he recently rounded up sponsorship to run at least the NHMS and Lime Rock races.
The Hartford Courant's Shawn Courchesne, who follows the short track scene very closely, was on site. Click here for his write-up and photos of Tuesday's Test & Tune at Lime Rock.
