The 60 Year Celebration Affair

With this announcement, tickets for Lime Rock Park’s very special evening, “The 60 Year Celebration Affair” – Saturday, September 2 – are now available, limited to 300 guests on a first come, first serve basis. We've also confirmed the Special Guests: David Hobbs, Brian Redman and Sam Posey, as well as the man largely responsible for Lime Rock’s success through the 60s and 70s, former general manager and one-time owner Jim Haynes. Haynes, Hobbs, Redman and Sam will convene for a terrific "Lime Rock History" panel, where for certain we will be told tales never heard before surrounding the track that was – and still is – important to their lives and careers.

For Lime Rock Park, 2017 is a milestone year. It was the spring of 1957 when the track that was carved out of the remnants of a flood-ravaged gravel quarry, looping around a potato field with its front straight hard against the Salmon Kill, opened to host its first races; eight contests sanctioned by the SCCA New England Region. The winner of the very first race at Lime Rock was Ted Sprigg, racing an Alfa Romeo Giulietta.

Now, six decades later, track owner Skip Barber is throwing a party – you’re invited – to celebrate Lime Rock’s rich, significant history. The proceeds from the tickets sold for “The 60 Year Celebration Affair” will fund the design and construction of the Legends of Lime Rock memorial kiosk, centerpiece to an all-new commemorative area that will include the Winners Circle, benches, walkways and gardens. A plaza will be built using the personalized brick pavers purchased by fans to memorialize and pay tribute to whomever they wish.

The “The 60 Year Celebration Affair” includes the opening cocktail reception with the special guests, plus dinner, music and entertainment. An auction of fabulous racing-related items and experiences is part of evening, with talks by and banter between the evening’s special guests sure to be a highlight.

Each seat at “The 60 Year Celebration Affair” goes for $200; 8-seat tables can be reserved for $1,600.
