Historic Festival 40 & Sunday In The Park

September 1 – 5

Glorious racecars from bygone eras spend their Labor Day Weekend at Lime Rock Park doing what they were made to do: Go racing.

What’s Happening:

Historic Festival 40

Celebrating its 40th year, the Lime Rock Historic Festival launches into action over Labor Day weekend with a 17-mile tour through the area with Thursday’s Vintage Race Car and Sports Car Parade. Friday, Saturday and Monday feature non-stop, on-track competition across a diverse set of historic racing classes. The featured racing class this year will be Historic Trans Am.

On Sunday, the Lime Rock Concours and Gathering of the Marques display nearly 1,000 enthusiast cars and motorcycles arranged around the Lime Rock circuit.

This year, we’re commemorating the upcoming 70th anniversary of the Corvette with an extensive and unprecedented display of Corvette concept cars, sponsored by Corvette, together with a display of significant competition Corvettes. On Sunday, they’ll be joined by production Corvettes of all generations.

Historic racing

The 40th edition of the Lime Rock Historic Festival once again brings together an exciting and diverse field of historic racing machines for a Labor Day Weekend celebration of speed, sound and beauty with classes that range from pre-war open-wheel cars to the sports and formula cars of the postwar era.

More than racing, there’s also a swap meet, automobilia concessions, book signings featured speakers and more to enjoy over the long weekend.

The featured in this year’s Historic Racing lineup will be Historic Trans Am. There’s never been a more hard-fought race series than the Trans Am races of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Driven by motorsports legends, these mighty muscle cars roared — Mustangs, Camaros, Javelins, Firebirds, Cougars, and more. You’ll see the actual Trans Am race cars on the track, not reproductions. Fifty years later, they’re still going strong and you’ll see (and hear) them battle it out at the Historic Festival.

For Sunday in the Park, we’ll be featuring a special exhibition that compares the Trans Am racers to their production counterparts, Z/28s, Boss 302s, ‘Cuda AARs and more.

Don’t miss this amazing demonstration of traditional American muscle.

Historic Festival 40 will celebrate the upcoming 70th anniversary of the Corvette with several special displays, including 12 rarely seen Concept Cars straight from General Motors, over 20 significant competition Corvettes and a specially selected group of production cars reflecting the important milestones in Corvette’s legacy as America’s premier sports car.

Sunday In The Park

Sunday in the Park: The Lime Rock Concours offers a special line up of beautiful and historic cars across several groups to vie for the Best-in-Show Award.

Dress in your Sunday best to wander around the Park and gander at the finest examples of automobiles and motorcycles in the northeast

Gathering Of The Marques – Presented by FCP Euro

Sunday’s second event is the Gathering of the Marques, which hosts enthusiasts and clubs representing nearly every make and model, all arranged around the 1.5-mile Lime Rock course. This year’s Gathering of the Marques has been generously sponsored by FCP Euro. With as many as 600 cars expected, the event will showcase an incredibly diverse display of cars grouped by make, model or country of origin. If it’s an interesting and fun car, bring it to the track and showcase it next to its brethren. Many regional car clubs are regular attendees and we encourage clubs to contact us about participation.

For this year’s Gathering of the Marques, we are requesting that participants pre-register for the event, which will help us allocate adequate space for each entry. Registration and ticketing information available shortly.

Historic Festival Parade

The Historic Festival Parade is a 17-mile tour through local towns on some of the most scenic and entertaining roads in the northwest Connecticut. The parade concludes at the town of Falls Village with a street fair.

Parade participation is limited and is by application only. Please click the link below to apply to the Historic Festival Parade. For any questions or concerns, please contact Stephen Huntley at

As part of its upcoming commemoration of 70 years of Corvette history at the 40th Historic Festival, Lime Rock Park will be hosting a dinner and panel discussion on September 3 with four senior GM Design executives that have kept Corvette at the cutting edge of sports car styling. Joining this very special evening will be Michael Simcoe, currently leader of GM Global Design, as well as his predecessor, Ed Welburn. Also taking part in the panel will be Phil Zak, Executive Director of Global Chevrolet Design, as well as his predecessor John Cafaro, who also served as Corvette Chief Designer from 1986 to 1999.

Between looking back at the Corvette’s glorious past as well as gaining a rare glimpse into its future, this is an event not to be missed. The evening will take place in the Lime Rock Park infield, starting at 6:00pm. Prior to the dinner, an extensive collection of rarely seen Corvette concept cars as well as historic competitive cars will be on display at the track. Cost for the event is $100, including beer and wine. Seats for this exclusive Corvette-focused evening are limited, so sign up early.
