June 12, 2020—The Salisbury Rotary Club’s annual Independence Day fireworks fundraiser has been postponed until Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020, with a rain date of Sunday, Oct. 11.
Given the current guidelines and associated limitations regarding public events of this type, Rotary Club and Lime Rock officials have agreed that it is in the best interest for all involved to postpone the event until later in the year.
“The decision to reschedule the event was not an easy one; however, to ensure the safety of everyone who enjoys the annual fireworks show and to follow the guidelines issued by the State of Connecticut, the Salisbury Rotary Club Board of Directors felt that moving the event was the right decision,” Randy Chapell, Salisbury Rotary Club President, said. “We feel encouraged that by October, we will be able to hold a safe, family friendly event that celebrates America’s independence as well as its resilience and strength.”
For more than 40 years, the Salisbury Rotary Club and Lime Rock Park have co-sponsored the annual celebration traditionally held on July 4th weekend. The annual fundraiser allows the Salisbury Rotary Club to support local scholarships as well as local and international service projects. On Saturday, Oct. 10, gates are scheduled to open at 4:00 p.m. with the fireworks displayed shortly after dusk at around 7:00 p.m. For updated information, please visit https://limerock.com/rotaryclubfireworks.
