Heavy athletics, pipe bands, Scottish food and drink, Highland Cows and more highlight the annual Community Event

LAKEVILLE, CONN. – The Berkshire Highlands will once again come alive with the sights and sounds of Scotland on Sunday, September 27, when the Litchfield Hills Highland Games return to Lime Rock Park as part of the Community Event series.

The Highland Games transforms Lime Rock Park into a celebration of Scottish culture, featuring heavy athletics, clan and society gatherings, pipe bands, Scottish food and drink, the Faux Haggis Toss, children’s games, events and crafts with Scottish and other vendors.

Throughout the day, guests can also experience sheep herding demonstrations, Scottish-inspired craft beer, explore some of the best local distilleries for a History of Whisky Tasting Adventure and the spirited Kilted Mile for adults and youth. Additional activities include Highland Coo (Cow) petting, Gaelic lessons, dance demonstrations, raffles, corral of British cars and motorcycles and more.

“From the moment the pipes start playing, there’s an energy to the Highland Games that takes over Lime Rock Park,” said Litchfield Hills Highland Games Co-Organizer Cathy Sutherland. “We have generations of families who come to celebrate their Scottish heritage alongside people experiencing the Games for the very first time. That mix of tradition, competition, music, food and fun is what makes the day so special.”

Inspired by The Park’s signature red, white and black colors and the legacy of Scottish racing legend Jim Clark, the Lime Rock Park Tartan from ScotlandShop will also be featured as part of the celebration.

The Litchfield Hills Highland Games start at 9 a.m. on Sunday and ends at 4 p.m. Advanced tickets are $21.28 or $25 at the gate. Seniors 65 and older may purchase discounted tickets for $15 at the gate. Children 12 and under, veterans and active military (with valid military id) are free.
