Of course, you couldn’t have asked for better summer weather[tech] than we got at Lime Rock Park today. And we’ll get it again tomorrow (actually, nicer; 80s instead of 90s, and less humid, are expected for Saturday).
Today was IMSA Northeast Grand Prix qualifying for the WeatherTech SportsCar championship and the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge. Tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. is qualifying for the Prototype Challenge presented by Mazda series, for the “Continental Tire Road Race Challenge” race.
The qualifying results... (complete results available at Results.IMSA.com)
In Continental Tire ST, Chad McCumbee is on pole with a :59.052 in the Freedom Autosport #25 Mazda MX-5 Miata. The GS class has Trent Hindman’s Porsche Cayman GT4 at the front of the field at :55.388.
The WeatherTech GTD polesitter is Madison Snow, who turned :52.508 in Paul Miller Racing’s Lamborghini Huracan GT3, while in the fastest class, GTLM, Gianmaria Bruni put in a scorcher :50.404 lap in the factory Porsche 911 RSR.
One of the Ford GTs, Richard Westbrook’s, qualified second, while Porsche took third ahead of a BMW. The fastest Corvette is fifth.
But check this out: All the GTLM cars are within a half-second of each other (!), and the first 15 GTD cars are within 1 second. That’s called competitive, folks.
Saturday: Come meet Grand Marshal PJ Jones in the Midway -- PJ still owns the overall LRP track record at :43.112 -- and watch three exciting races as the IMSA Northeast Grand Prix featuring the WeatherTech SportsCar championship shakes the ground at Lime Rock Park.
The weather’s going to be great, people; gates open at 7:00 a.m., and parking is free (so are youths 16 and under, and vets/active military).

See you Saturday...
