Historic Festival 36 To Showcase A Record-Setting Amount Of Rare & Historic Bugattis
The Historic Festival at Lime Rock Park, now in its 36th year, is staged to be one of the largest gatherings of historic Bugatti vehicles in North America, with approximately 50 to 60 registered to be part of this year’s event. Held over Labor Day Weekend, Aug. 30 - Sept. 3, 2018, the festival is the only North American classic car race and concours held in the same location and is poised to be one of the largest vintage cars events in North America, with Bugatti as the featured marque.
According to Historic Festival Chairman Murray Smith, a record number of Bugatti’s will be racing, and an even larger number of these iconic vehicles will be participating in the Sunday in the Park Concours d'Elegance.
Among the exceptional cars that will be here are “two of the most outstanding Bugattis to ever see the light of day,” Smith said, noting that Peter Mullin's Type 57SC Atlantic Coupe and Ralph Lauren's Type 57SC Gangloff Convertible will both be at the festival. In addition, the renowned Bugatti 57G “Tank” that won the 1937 Le Mans 24 Hour race is set to join the weekend’s celebration.
“The Bugatti is one of the most important and beloved marques in all motor racing history—a marque that has stimulated enormous interest and enthusiasm from both aesthetic and performance points of view,” Smith said. “We’re especially honored to be hosting this historic gathering of Bugatti that are coming in from all over the United States and the rest of the world.”
In addition to the presence of the American Bugatti Club, noted Bugatti authority Hugh Conway, Chairman of the United Kingdom’s Bugatti Trust, will be an active participant in the celebration, and hopefully will joined by the Trust’s curator, Angela Hucke.
