Touring Car Festival featuring TC America & Pirelli GT4 America
Friday, May 8 - Saturday, May 9, 2020
SRO Motorsports America racing returns to Lime Rock Park with its first-ever Touring Car Festival and an exciting weekend planned for fans. The TC America series and it’s three Touring Car categories are joined by the Pirelli GT4 America SprintX series for this new venue.
Managed by SRO Motorsports America (formerly World Challenge) and sanctioned by the United States Auto Club, TC America and Pirelli GT4 America will kick off their 2020 seasons jointly with a battle at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin on March 7-8 and end with a championship showdown at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Oct. 3-4.
At LIme Rock's Touring Car Festival, experience two days of on track action with practice and qualifying on Friday, May 8 and racing on Saturday, May 9. The event will include camping, a Midway, concessions, open paddocks and fan experiences.
The TC America championship comes into the 2020 season with growth potential throughout its popular touring car classes - TCR, TC, TCA. Now in third year of TCR competition, the series builds off of the high excitement and close racing the class produces with global homologated TCR cars. TC America features the best racing in the country with action throughout the two 40-minute sprint races at each event. Overall, TC America is the most cost-effective professional racing in North America with something for everyone.
Touring cars are closely related to their road-going sedan origins, using many original components and generally distinguish themselves from sports car racing by featuring more compact front-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive cars with smaller engines. Connecticut-based team FCP Euro enters the 2020 season of TC America as the reigning TCR class champion.
PIRELLI GT4 AMERICA
Pirelli GT4 America features global GT4 technical regulations and is regularly a GT World Challenge America support series. The GT4 America Series SprintX series features one-hour races with two drivers per car and a mandatory driver change during Pit stops.
GT4 class cars are most generally what can be referred to as track day sports cars, which are factory-built race cars available to the public. However, custom-built cars based on production models can also be built by teams. All car models are technically evaluated at an international level and then modified so that they all have near identical performance levels.
