Historic Festival 36 By The Numbers

Congratulations to all the 192 competitors who joined us for the races at Historic Festival 36.

A total of 221 entries raced among eight race groups. Competitors came from five countries and 25 states in the U.S.

Rick Bell took the fastest lap time at 52.319 seconds racing in the red No. 78 1978 Ralt FA. Review the best times HERE.

There were 19 entries in the Bugatti Grand Prix, representing the featured marque of the festival.

In The Competition of Elegance, Ralph Lauren's Bugatti Is Extraordinaire

Ralph Lauren's 1937 Bugatti Type 57 SC Gangloff Drophead Coupe -- one of only two of it's kind -- won "Best in Show - Road and Touring" at the 36 annual Sunday in the Park Concours d'Elegance during Lime Rock's Historic Festival. With it's coupe body style, riveted seams, tear drop fenders and distinguished Art Deco style, the near priceless car was undoubtedly a show-stopper -- or être extraordinaire! The Bugatti also won a Best in Class award for the 1930s Bugatti.
 

100-Year-Old Bugatti Owner Coming To Historic Festival

Meet Alden Sherman of Weston, CT. He just celebrated his 100th Birthday and will be bringing his 1938 Bugatti Type 57C to Historic Festival 36. We recently caught up with Mr. Sherman and his wife Jo, where they shared details about the car, including its multiple awards. Mr. Sherman first bought the car in 1950 from a doctor in Richmond, Va. through Gene Cesari in Vermont. When it arrived, it had two body bags in the back filled with parts...car parts that is! Mr.
