Mississauga (Ontario) – Launched on Canadian tracks in 2015, the Nissan Sentra Cup enters its tenth season this year and, this weekend, will officially become a North American series with its grand debut at an event at Lime Rock Park, located in Lakeville, Connecticut, USA. For fans unable to attend in person, both races will be livestreamed from the Nissan Sentra Cup Facebook page, Coupe Nissan Sentra Cup.

This weekend’s event at Lime Rock is considered one the most important of the year, as fans will witness the return of the famous IROC series (International Race of Champions) in addition to an event for former champions and North American motorsport legends at the wheel of always popular Trans Am series cars. This is in addition to the Nissan Sentra Cup which will feature two races. Fans will have the opportunity to witness Nissan Sentra Cup cars and drivers on American soil for the first time, during the fifth and sixth events of the 2024 season.

Lime Rock Park was built in 1955 and opened to the public for its first official event on April 20, 1957. In the 1960s and 1970s, Lime Rock was considered the premier racetrack in the northern United States due to its unique 2,462 km layout and, above all, its proximity to New York and Boston. In the early 2000s, driver and driving school founder Skip Barber became sole owner of the facility.

Nissan Canada and series organizers announced the American debut of the Nissan Sentra Cup in 2023 which will feature the usual 2024 season lineup. After winning the last two races, as part of the Grand Prix Nissan at Complexe ICAR in Mirabel on July 7, Valérie Limoges is now in first place in the championship. The 2022 champion is only seven points ahead of Nicolas Barrette (171 to 164), who won the second race of the season. Alexandre Fortin, the seasons first winner and the 2023 defending champion, Simon Vincent, Nicolas Miron as well as Daniel Fortin, Alexandre’s father, are all currently battling for the title. The Lime Rock event will mark the end of the first half of the season.

Will Valérie Limoges be crowned honorary mid-season champion on American soil this Saturday? Fans will find out after the two forty-minute races that promise to be action-packed, especially as the Lime Rock track is a new experience for Nissan Sentra Cup drivers.

Drivers will compete in a free practice session this Friday, July 19 from 9:30 a.m. to 9:55 a.m., followed by the qualifying session from 2 p.m. On Saturday, the start of the first race will be at 11:20 a.m. The second race will be presented from 4:20 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Livestream both races on the Nissan Sentra Cup Facebook page, Coupe Nissan Sentra Cup.
