Lime Rock Park announced today that Lieutenant General L. Scott Rice, former Director of the Air National Guard, will serve as Grand Marshal on Monday(May 29) for the Trans Am Memorial Day Classic. The event, set to take place May 26-29, promises to be a thrilling celebration of motorsport and American heroism.

Lieutenant General Rice has dedicated his career to protecting and serving the nation, rising through the ranks to become one of the most respected leaders in the United States military. Before retiring as the Director of the Air National Guard, he demonstrated remarkable leadership, overseeing the strategic direction and operational readiness, affecting more than 105,500 Guard members and civilians in more than 90 wings and 175 geographically separated units across 213 locations throughout the 50 States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands.

“We are honored to have Lieutenant General Rice join us as the Grand Marshal Monday’s Trans Am Memorial Day Classic race,” said Dicky Riegel, President of Lime Rock Park. “His selection as Grand Marshal reflects his exceptional contributions to our nation’s defense and his steadfast commitment to the American people.”

Monday’s opening ceremonies will also feature a flyover in a Lockheed C-130 Hercules aircraft by the U.S. Air Force and the Connecticut National Guard will present the nation’s colors ahead of the National Anthem. 

Veterans and active military will be further honored on Monday by FCP Euro in the Veterans Outpost. Located on the hillside between the Lefthander and Paul Newman Straight, military personnel will have views of the day’s featured races as well as complimentary hospitality. Also on Monday, The Park will host a Military Service Car Corral. Service members can purchase a car corral pass for $40, which will grant access to the VIP Parking Area and parade laps during lunchtime. Space is limited to the first 50 participants.

The entire weekend, veterans, active military and their direct family members will receive free general admission passes. Gold Star Families will also receive complimentary admission throughout the Memorial Day Classic.
