Overcast Forecast Doesn’t Dampen the Spirit of the14th Annual Royal’s Garage Car Show at Lime Rock Park

More than 300 cars attended Sunday car show to benefit The Little Guild Animal Shelter

LAKEVILLE, CT (25 May 2025)- Despite a gray sky and the chance of rain, more than 300 classic and collector cars rolled into Lime Rock Park on Sunday for the 14th Annual Royal’s Garage Car Show, part of the Trans Am Memorial Day Classic. The fan-favorite event once again delivered an unforgettable day of cars and community to benefit a great cause.

Proceeds from the show benefited the Little Guild Animal Shelter in West Cornwall, Connecticut and the shelter brought along a special guest. Davenport, a cheerful American Bull Terrier available for adoption, served as the event’s honorary guest. With a wagging tail and camera-ready smile, Davenport stole the show and hearts as she helped recognize the top entries on display along Sam Posey Straight. Davenport was great with kids, loves car rides and was unbothered by all the cacophony that came from the diverse collection of cars gathered at Lime Rock Park.

Trophies were awarded in four categories:

  • Veterans Choice: Paul Mennon, 1972 Pontiac LeMans 455HO
  • People’s Choice: Reno Ricardi, 1962 Nash Metropolitan
  • Skip’s Choice: Victoria Gonzalez, 1984 Volskwagen Rabbit GTI
  • The Royal’s Crown (Best in Show): Mike Sheldon, 1962 Chevrolet Corvette

Sheldon owned his black Corvette for 51 years and drove it solo down the entire length of Route 66, making it a standout not only for its style but its history on the road.

The Royal’s Garage Car Show has become a staple of Memorial Day weekend at Lime Rock Park, bringing enthusiasts together to celebrate vintage craftsmanship and support local causes.

As the last cars cruised off the straight and the trophies found new homes, Davenport remained hopeful she’d be going home too with a forever family of her own. To apply to adopt Davenport or any other animal from The Little Guild, visit https://www.littleguild.org/

On Memorial Day Monday, fans can experience the roar of the Trans Am TA class, joined by IGT, XGT, SGT and GT production-based classes.

New to the schedule this year is the Lime Rock Classic, a multi-class sportscar group based on weight and power with entries ranging from vintage 1969 Porsche 911 Carrera RS to a 2020 Porsche GT4 Clubsport MR. The near 40-car inaugural field will compete in two races on Monday.
