Dear Fellow Enthusiast,

Skip Barber and I are delighted to announce the 28th running of the Lime Rock Historic Festival taking place, as ever, on Labor Day weekend, the 3rd to the 6th September 2010. The event will be sanctioned again by our friends at the VSCCA.

The basic format of the event will follow that of last year's highly successful Festival, when our aim was to provide plenty of track time, and opportunities to participate in sprint races as well as those of longer duration. Practice will take place Friday Sept. 3, qualifying on Saturday morning and racing Saturday afternoon, and racing all day on Monday.

Sunday (when local ordinances don’t allow on-track action) will see ”Sunday in the Park,” our Concours & Car Show. Last year, with the addition of a new feature, Gathering of the Clubs, we saw an unprecedented 722 cars displayed on the track. All entrants for the Historic Festival race meeting are free to join the Concours (a Sunday in the Park entry form will be available soon).

There will be racing for the following groups:

Group 1, Pre-war Sports and Racing Cars:  Motorsport Trophy
Group 2, 50s Competition Cars:  Lime Rock Challenge
Group 3, Porsche 911 and 914:  Klubsport Kup
Group 4, Best of British Production Sports: Chairmans Chalice
Group 5, F. Ford & F. Junior:  Starter’s Delight; Group 5a, F. Ford:  The Stimola Memorial
Group 6, Abarths & Alfas Galore:  The Turin Tankard
Group 7, Wild, Wild Horses - Big Bore Production:  Detroit Dilemma
Group 8, Speedy, Eclectic Mix: Sports Racing Cars:  The Bennett Bowl
Group 9, Minis Against the Rest:  Giant's Despair
Group 10, Memories of Gilles, F2/Formula Atlantic:  Fabulous Formulas

Given the experience I gained last year as Chairman of the event for the first time, we are making arrangements to facilitate load-in of vehicles on Thursday to eliminate some of the delays experienced in 2009.

An entry form for Historic Festival 28 is below; it is our intent to inform you of acceptance immediately, and give you information on the group you will be running with. We reserve the right to add or subtract groups depending on the entries we receive. We will also add, by popular request, a hardship session first thing on Saturday and Monday mornings. Once your entry is accepted we will forward detailed instructions and schedules, but all groups will practice on Friday, and race on Saturday and Monday. Additional information bulletins will also be posted on the Lime Rock website on a regular basis.

I will endeavor to avoid large speed differentials in each group and will exercise my chairman's prerogative to adjust the groups in order to assure you all of an enjoyable and appropriate group to race in.

Skip, myself, and our long suffering Event Coordinator Jeannette Veitenheimer look forward to hearing from you and to seeing you at the Festival. Individual questions or queries will be answered immediately by telephone or e-mail by myself or Jeanette.

Upcoming Events
SCCA_Club_Logo_2The next set of races at Lime Rock Park are the Sports Car Club of America NARRC run-offs, Friday and Saturday, October 1-2. “NARRC” stands for the North Atlantic Road Racing Championship, and the October 2 races are the season finales for every SCCA class in the Region: it determines who goes to the SCCA National Run-offs and who has to stay home! This is great racing, trust us – everything from the thundering GT1 Corvettes and Mustangs to the hyper-quick Formula Fords and Formula Vees are racing hard for double points. Advance tickets are $10, at the gate, $15. This is a great way to spend an early fall day at the Park, don’t miss it!
