Sunday Events Return to Lime Rock Park

For the last 65 years, Lime Rock Park has been the hub for racing on the East Coast.

In addition to a busy schedule of traditional race events in 2022, the Connecticut facility will grow its offerings this year by hosting a series of community events, adding a vast array of activities for the whole family to enjoy while also raising money for local charities.

Sundays at The Park Launches

More than 500 Volvos and Saabs lined the 1.5-mile picturesque Lime Rock Park circuit for the first gathering of the FCP Euro Sunday Motoring Meet on April 2. The event was attended by thousands of local enthusiasts and launched the new “Sundays at The Park” initiative, a diverse series of car shows and gatherings throughout the spring and summer held at Lime Rock Park that will showcase a variety of marques, from Audi to Ferrari.

“We’re absolutely thrilled with the turnout for our very first Sunday Motoring Meet at Lime Rock Park,” said FCP Euro Event Director Nathan Brown. “FCP Euro created this series to embrace and support the local enthusiast community, not to profit from it, which is why it is free to attend and open to all makes and models and not just European cars. To see such a great mix of Volvos and Saabs, which were the two featured marques for this first edition, plus a huge array of other cars in the main paddock, it really gets us excited for the rest of the season. With BMW as the featured marque for our second Sunday Motoring Meet on 4/24, we’re hoping for another great crowd to enjoy a relaxing morning at Lime Rock Park.”

Miller Motorcars raised $20,000 for charity, hosting Ferraris at The Park last Sunday (April 10). Every generation of Ferrari lined the Sam Posey Straight to benefit the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp.

The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp was founded in 1988 by Paul Newman to give every child – no matter their illness – the chance to “raise a little hell.” Through a variety of year-round programs offered onsite, in hospitals and clinics, and right in camper homes and communities, the organization serves more than 20,000 seriously ill children and family members each year.

What is the Secret?

For the last 20 years, thousands of horticulturalists, garden and antique lovers alike, including Martha Stewart, have traveled to Connecticut to experience the wonders of Trade Secrets™. The “garden event of the year” is moving to Lime Rock Park, May 14-15. Trade Secrets is a two-day rare plant and garden antiques sale that benefits Women’s Support Services (WSS), a non-profit organization that provides services to persons in the northwest corner of Connecticut who have experienced domestic violence or abuse. Billed as a full weekend event, fans can expect to enjoy shopping from over 50 specialty plant and antique vendors and take tours of extraordinary public and private gardens.

“We are excited about the move to Lime Rock Park,” said Betsey Mauro, Executive Director of WSS.  “For so many years, we were fortunate to have such a gracious host in Elaine Laroche, who offered her LionRock Farm for the event. We’ve known for a few years that we were outgrowing LionRock, and Lime Rock is going to be the perfect fit as the event continues to grow.”

Vote for Connecticut’s Best Craft Beer

Another new event set for May is the Connecticut Craft Grand Prix.  The inaugural professional beer competition, organized by the Connecticut Brewers Guild, will showcase the outstanding quality and variety of Connecticut craft beer and the brewers that make them. Taking place at Lime Rock Park, Sunday, May 29 from noon to 5pm,  fans will enjoy more than 40 local Connecticut breweries all in one place.

Pet a Mutt

Pooches will prance around Lime Rock Park June 5 for the Great Country Mutt Show. The Great Country Mutt Show is a Westminster-style Mutt Show that showcases dogs of all breeds and creeds. From “the best mask” to “the best lapdog over 40 pounds” to “the sweetest pair,” there are multiple chances for fans’ beloved dogs to take to the ring. While the doggy competition is in action, attendees can enjoy several other activities including, a pet and owner fashion show, an auction, raffles, live music, food trucks and more. The event is free and open to the public and will benefit the Little Guild Animal Rescue in Cornwall, Connecticut.

Bring a Kilt

Celebrating its 99th year, the Round Hill Highland Games returns to Lime Rock Park June 26 for a day of classic Scottish competitions, including the Kilted Milt Run on the LRP circuit,  music, syrup, whisky, beer and food tastings, vendors and more.
