Lime Rock Park Partners with Fairfield County Sports Car Club for Autocross Events

LAKEVILLE, CONN. (8 August 2024) – After years of collaboration, Lime Rock Park and Fairfield County Sports Car Club (FCSCC) have officially formed a new partnership to offer autocross events. This collaboration brings together one of the country’s most iconic racing venues and one of the oldest continuously-operating independent motorsports clubs.

With curriculums that are designed for novice drivers, as well as programs that will reward the more experienced driver with one on one coaching, the FCSCC autocross programs are available throughout the 2024 summer and fall seasons.

The events will feature solo style autocross competitions, adhering to Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) rules, with different cone-style courses set up in Paddock B at Lime Rock Park. Participants will navigate through a course defined by traffic cones, emphasizing car handling and driver skill over sheer horsepower or maximum speed. The classing system ensures fair competition among a diverse range of vehicles, from economy sedans to purpose-built sports cars.

FCSCC’s experienced instructors will be on hand to assist newcomers, and special classes for those new to the sport will also be available. The events will contribute points toward year-long championships for each class, including three rookie classes, culminating in a year-end championship runoff race.

“We are excited to partner with FCSCC to bring these thrilling autocross events to Lime Rock Park,” said Lime Rock Park Vice President of Business Development Walter Irvine . “Their commitment to safe and skillful driving aligns perfectly with our mission, and we look forward to welcoming drivers of all levels to our track.”

Established in 1956, FCSCC is a 501(c)4 non-profit organization dedicated to providing automobile enthusiasts with a safe environment to test and improve their driving skills. The club hosts an annual rookie school and a series of solo style autocross events, fostering a community of over 100 members who are passionate about motorsports and giving back to the local community. Over the years, FCSCC has donated more than $112,000 to local charities, including Special Olympics Connecticut.
