Lime Rock Park and Beeworks to Launch Lime Rock Honey Made from Bees Housed at The Park

LAKEVILLE, CT (21 April 2023)– Lime Rock Park will get a little sweeter this Spring as the Connecticut-based facility welcomes its new partner Beeworks. Founded by New England native Dan Watkins, Beeworks is a honey bee service company that offers installation and maintenance of apiaries and pollinator land management services.

Four bee hives sourced from local Eastern White Pine trees will house thousands of honey bees in a protective environment staged near the Salmon Kill River on Lime Rock Park’s property. The apiaries will arrive to The Park on April 29th and the bees will move in a few weeks later in May, just in time for the Trade Secrets Rare Plants and Garden Antiques Sale on May 21.

Not only will the bees pollinate the flowers and forage around The Park, the bees will also use the nectar to produce honey.  In the fall, the Lime Rock Park Honey will be extracted, filtered and bottled for fans to purchase.

“Lime Rock Park has long been known as the most beautiful racing facility in North America, due to its unique park setting amidst the rolling hills of Litchfield County, Connecticut,” said Dicky Riegel, Lime Rock Park CEO. “It is all the more natural and appropriate that the Park supports the local ecosystem through this partnership with Beeworks. Lime Rock Honey will be a healthy and delicious new feature in Park Provisions menu items onsite.”

“At Beeworks, we are modernizing beekeeping by replicating natural systems and improving the environment for all pollinators,” said Beeworks Founder. Dan Watkins “Working with LRP for the coming years is going to be a lot of fun, and the honey bees will surely enjoy being at the track!”

Fans can view the full colony during the upcoming community and track events or at the Lime Rock Park season opener, the Memorial Day Classic May 26-29 and Connecticut Craft Beer Grand Prix on May 28. For event information and tickets visit, Memorial Day Classic – Lime Rock Park
