MiataCon Gains Manufacturer Support with New Mazda Motorsports and Mazda of Milford Partnership
Mazda Motorsports and Mazda of Milford partner with Lime Rock Park for unique season finale
LAKEVILLE, CONN. (24 October 2023)- MiataCon (Oct. 27-28) will now feature a major collaboration as Lime Rock Park, in partnership with Sports Car Driving Association (SCDA), announces manufacturer support from Mazda Motorsports North America and Mazda of Milford (CT).
The new partnership will turn the entrance of Paddock A into a Mazda Village with interactive activation displays from both Mazda Motorsports and Mazda of Milford.
At the point of Paddock A will be the mobile Grassroots Consumer Experience Center trailer, an interactive consumer experience from Mazda Motorsports North America designed to celebrate the Mazda Miata and its dedicated community of enthusiasts.
As the exclusive dealership of MiataCon, Mazda of Milford will be an integral part of the Mazda Village, bringing the brand-new CX-90 and the iconic RX-7 for fans to get up close and personal with. The cars will be parked right beside the Consumer Experience Center.
The sponsorship will also include new signage and naming rights to the season finale live stream (more information to be released at a later this week).
“Lime Rock Park is thrilled to have Mazda Motorsports North America and Mazda of Milford on board for the first ever MiataCon,” said Jamie Kistner, Director of Sales & Marketing for Lime Rock Park. “Their commitment to and support of MiataCon further solidifies the desire to bring together and celebrate all things Miata, from racers to enthusiasts, in this one-of-a-kind event.”
The brand new Grassroots Customer Experience Center is designed to support racers on track in the form of technical and parts and engaging while giving the opportunity for Mazda Motorsports to engage with Miata owners and enthusiasts.
“We’re delighted to partner with Lime Rock Park for this special celebration of all-things Mazda MX-5 Miata,” said Mazda Motorsports Senior Manager Jonathan Applegate. “When Lime Rock Park leadership approached Mazda Motorsports with the idea of MiataCon we were intrigued and wanted to get involved right away in year one knowing this event will grow with popularity for years to come. We’ve been trying to find ways to reach the Lime Rock Park market with our MX-5s for quite some time. For a special event like this, centered around all generations of our beloved roadster, it’s a perfect opportunity to get in front of our devoted Miata enthusiasts.”
Miatas hold a special place in Mazda of Milford’s owner and General Manger Spencer Brockman’s heart. Brockman competed in Mazda MX-5 Cup, after cutting his teeth in karting and testing MX-5s at Lime Rock Park.
“I’ve raced Mazdas most of my career, and have always been tied to Mazda on the racing side and on the dealership side.I’ve been fortunate enough to experience the loyalty and extreme enthusiasm that both communities have,” said Brockman. “MiataCon really goes back to my roots. When I heard about this event, I though it was perfect because it ties those two communities with their love for Mazda together at one event. Mazda of Milford is excited to be the Official Dealer of MiataCon.”
Slated for Oct. 27-28, MiataCon celebrates every generation of the Miata MX-5 with three different Miata competition classes: Spec/Global MX-5, Spec Miata, and an Exhibition group which will include any race-prepped Miata that doesn’t fit into the first two groups. These groups will culminate in a one-hour enduro on Saturday (Oct. 28) mixing all three classes on the track at the same time.
Weekend passes start at $25, with camping and corral upgrades available. Active military, veterans and children 12 and under are free.
