Lakeville, CT, October 25, 2024 – Lime Rock Park welcomed Miata enthusiasts from across the country today as MiataCon 2024 officially launched with over 180 Mazda MX-5s gracing the track. The event features cars from each generation of the iconic Miata, with entries hailing from 12 states, making for a spectacular showcase of community and dedication. With over 500 more Miatas expected throughout the weekend, MiataCon 2024 promises to celebrate the grassroots spirit of the world’s most popular roadster.

“We’re thrilled to see the incredible turnout of Miata owners and fans at Lime Rock Park,” said Lime Rock Park President Dicky Riegel, who is also participating in MiataCon, piloting a Spec Miata in Group 1. “MiataCon has become a true gathering for the MX-5 community, and this year’s event has something special for everyone—from seasoned racers to first-time attendees.”

Friday featured two scenic street drives led by Nutmeg Miata Club. More than a dozen Miatas participated in the free group drive, exploring the stunning local roads surrounding Lime Rock Park. The day also kicked off MiataX with nearly 20 novices participating in the Intro to MiataCon sessions on the FCP Euro Proving Grounds. New for 2024, the 100 minute sessions were designed for drivers who have not yet exercised their Miata on a track or autocross the opportunity to drive at the limit with the help of pro driving instructors.

Saturday Highlights Include:

• Car Corrals and Moss Miata Car Show: Corrals for each Miata generation (NA, NB, NC, ND) in addition to JDM sportscars and Kei Cars provide enthusiasts the chance to admire and share stories about their cars. The Moss Miata Car Show, a new addition for 2024, will treat participants to prize-packed goody bags and various awards, including the People’s Choice Award at 3 p.m. in Paddock B.
• MiataX Autocross: Miata-only autocross lapping sessions on the FCP Euro Proving Grounds invite drivers to test their skills in a safe, challenging environment.
• Fan Zone: The Fan Zone is set to be a highly interactive experience, featuring vendors, Miata street drive activities and a dynamic car show and car corral. Mazda USA will present an impressive Heritage Collection, showcasing rare Miatas and the unique “Halfie” concept, alongside a community lounge for fans to connect. Mazda of Milford is expanding its display with an eight-car lineup, including the latest Mazda models available for purchase.

The MiataCon Mixer on Saturday (October 26), will wrap up the festivities with music, karaoke and refreshments, bringing Miata fans together to celebrate their shared passion. An award ceremony for the weekend’s winners will follow the Mixer under the Lime Rock Park Pavilion.

General Admission  passes for MiataCon are $40 at the gate with upgrades for camping and corrals available. Children under 12, active military and veterans can attend the event for free with a military ID. Gates open at 7 a.m. with on-track activity starting at 9 a.m. The first 100 fans through the gate on Saturday will receive a commemorative MiataCon lanyard and badge.
