Memorial Day Classic

The Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli is back on the East Coastto contest the Lime Rock SpeedTour at Lime Rock Park’s Trans Am Memorial Day Classic. Trans Am racing at the 1.478-mile circuit over Memorial Day Weekend has become a longstanding tradition since the series took the green flag for the first time at Lime RockPark on Memorial Day of 1967. Since then, 24 of Trans Am’s 42races held at Lime Rock have been on Memorial Day Weekend. To honor veterans over the Memorial Day holiday, tickets to this weekend’s races are free for active military members, veterans, and their families with a valid ID.

Andy Lally Named Grand Marshal

New Trans Am Series President Andy Lally has been named Grand Marshal for this weekend’s Trans Am Memorial Day Classic. Lime Rock is a home track for Lally, who is originally from Northport, N.Y. He first raced at The Park while participating in the Skip Barber Racing School, and has gone on to win at the track in Grand-Am, ALMS and IMSA. Lally earned his first Trans Am win at Lime Rock just last year when he co-drove to the victory in the SpeedTour All-Star Race alongside 2023 CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series Champion Brent Crews.

Making Wishes Come True at Lime Rock

The Trans Am Series will welcome Elijah and his family from the Make-A-Wish Foundation to Lime Rock Park as a guest of CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series driver Bob Accardo (No. 39 Guthrie’s Garage/Race Marketing USA Ford Mustang) and Guthrie’s Garage.

Elijah is an active, funny, and caring 12 year old who was diagnosed with Blastic Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cell Neoplasm (BPDCN) – a rare and aggressive cancer of the blood and bone marrow that affects fewer than 1,000 people each year. Despite his diagnosis, Elijah continues to shine with his love for basketball and exotic cars, bringing energy and joy to everyone around him.

In The Winners Circle

This Friday, Trans Am will be joined at the racetrack by 180 students who are part of the Winners Circle Project, a non-profit organization which has been meticulously designed to inspire fresh, young, innovative minds through STEAM programs embedded in the exciting world of car racing. Throughout the course of one academic year, high school students build a Factory Five vehicle from the ground up. This year will see the participation of sixdifferent schools, and their racecars will be displayed in the paddock and driven around the track by their instructors.

The students will meet with program ambassador and TA driver Chris Dyson, stop by Silver Hare Racing to speak with CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series competitors Noah Harmon and Rafa Matos, receive a technical inspection presentation from Trans Am Technical Director Aaron Coalwell and TV commentator Ben Cissell, visit the Pirelli tire station and huddle up with Lime RockPark CEO Dicky Riegel and CMO Jamie Kistner. Each school will then give a marketing presentation celebrating everyone’s hard work and naming a winning team. For more information, visit winners-circle.org.

Dyson Returns to GYM WEED Winners Circle

Chris Dyson (No. 16 GYM WEED Ford Mustang) drove to GYM WEED Winners Circle for the first time this season in a redemptive West Coast swing where he scored a second-place finish at Sonoma Raceway and his first win of 2025 at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Dyson’s California victory means the three-time champion now has 27 National Championship wins, putting him fourth overall on the all-time TA-class win list, just one triumph away from tying fellow Trans Am Hall of Famer Tommy Kendall.

Now Dyson heads to his home track of Lime Rock Park, where he has stood on the top step of the podium three times in the past, most recently in 2022. He will be joined by teammate Matthew Brabham (No. 21 allgram Ford Mustang). Brabham won in his only start this season at Road Atlanta, where he filled in for an injured Dyson. This time he will be behind the wheel of the same car that he drove to a second-place finish at Lime Rock Park in 2022.

Menard vs. Andretti
Just four races into the season, Paul Menard has already driven to Victory Lane twice in his No. 3 Pittsburgh Paints/Menards Ford Mustang, taking the trophy at both Sebring International Raceway and Sonoma Raceway. With more wins than anyone else in the TA class, he once again sits at the top of the point standings. However, with three second-place finishes, Adam Andretti (No. 17 Top Liner Chevrolet Camaro) is lurking just 12 points behind him, setting up what could be a very interesting chase for the championship. Menard is currently in pursuit of his second-consecutive title, while Andretti is chasing his first.

Drissi Moving On Up
In the 11 days that comprised the West Coast Swing at Sonoma Raceway and Laguna Seca, Tomy Drissi (No. 8 Trench Shoring Co./Motul Chevrolet Camaro) gained two spots in the TA point standings, improving from fifth to third after back-to-back top-five finishes. While Drissi has never driven to Victory Lane at Lime Rock, he has stood on the podium multiple times since making his debut at the track during his 1999 Rookie of the Year season, with his most recent podium in 2021 when he finished second. In Trans Am’s last visit to the track, Drissi earned the pole award by just 0.03-seconds in a wet-weather qualifying session.

Joiner Returns
For the first time in four years, Erich Joiner returns to the National Championship to compete in the XGT class in his No. 10 goodboybob Coffee Roasters Porsche 991 GT3 R. Joiner won the first-ever XGT race in 2020, and the California native made his last National Championship start in 2021, a season in which he won each of the seven races he entered and captured the XGT championship. He has since made three starts in the Western Championship, tallying two victories in 2022 and a second-place finish in 2023.

New Faces in GT Classes
This weekend at Lime Rock Park, The Trans Am Series will welcome two new faces to the GT classes. David Melnick will be making his first-career Trans Am start behind the wheel of the No. 71 Poured Floors of N.Y. & N.J. Chevrolet Corvette in the SGT class.

In addition to making his second start of the season in the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series Pro/Am Challenge this weekend in his No. 29 New Granite & Marble/F.A.S.T. Auto Ford Mustang, Maciej Tuniewicz will be doing double duty, making his first-career start in the GT class at Lime Rock Park. Tuniewicz will get behind the wheel of the New Granite & Marble Porsche Cayman S in Monday’s TA/GT race.

Matos Back on Top
Three-time champion Rafa Matos is on top of the world and on top of the point standings following his victory at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Matos piloted his No. 57 Concord American Flagpole/SHR Chevrolet Camaro to his first win of 2025 and the 26th of his career in Trans Am’s last outing, raising the bar as the winningest driver in the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series, in addition to taking the points lead for the first time this year. Matos holds just a one-point advantage over second-place Tristan McKeein the No. 28 Spire/Gainbridge/SLR-M1 Chevrolet Camaro, who scored two-consecutive podium finishes during the back-to-back California events.

Mosack is Back
For the first time this season, Connor Mosack will be back behind the wheel of a TA2 car. Mosack, who has been racing in Trans Am since 2020, returns to TeamSLR, the team he drove for full time in 2021 and 2022 and scored two victories with, to pilot the No. 8 NAPA NightVision/Mission Foods/SLR-M1 Chevrolet Camaro.

Mosack is running full time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series this season for McAnally-Hilgemann Racing and competing in Friday night’s Truck race at Charlotte Motor Speedway, meaning he will miss this weekend’s TA2 practice sessions, but will arrive at Lime Rock in time to qualify on Saturday morning.

Nitro Adds Heim and Moffitt to Roster

Nitro Motorsports heads to Lime Rock Park with a strong stable this weekend, and one of the names on their roster is a face we haven’t seen in a while in the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series.

Corey Heim (No. 10 Nitro Motorsports Toyota Camry) competes full time in the NASCAR Truck Series and is currently leading the points in the series following victories at Daytona International Speedway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway. Heim last raced in the Trans Am Series in 2022.

Nitro Motorsports has been responsible for three victories in four races this season, with Thomas Annunziata (No. 90 Gazoo Racing/Nitro Motorsports Toyota Camry) winning the opening two events, and Brent Crews driving to the GYM WEED Winners Circle at Sonoma Raceway.

McKee Takes Lead in Young Gun Standings
14-year-old Tristan McKee has had a stellar season so far, finishing no worse than seventh in four events, and following back-to-back podium finishes in the California races, McKee has captured the top spot in the Young Gun Award standings. The TeamSLR driver holds an 18-point advantage over second place Thomas Annunziata (No. 90 Gazoo Racing/Nitro Motorsports Toyota Camry). Annunziata’s Nitro Motorsports teammates make up the remainder of the top-five in the standings, with Julian DaCosta (No. 30 Nitro Motorsports Ford Mustang) third, Sam Corry (No. 70 Nitro Motorsports Toyota Camry) fourth, and Boris Said Jr. (No. 60 Nitro Motorsports Toyota Camry) rounding out the top five.

Odrick Wins, Pro/Am Race Heats Up
For the first time this season, Jared Odrick (No. 00 Black Underwear/CoolBoxx Chevrolet Camaro) stood on the top step of the podium in the series’ last outing at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, adding flames to a tight CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series Pro/Am Challenge battle. Odrick’s victory bumped him up to second in the point standings, just 16 points behind 2024 championBarry Boes (No. 27 Accio Data/SLR-M1 Chevrolet Camaro), who drove to Victory Lane at Sonoma Raceway. Keith Prociuk (No. 9 HP Tuners/Cope Race Cars Ford Mustang) started the season strong, winning the opening two races at Sebring International Raceway and Road Atlanta and scoring a podium at Sonoma, but he dropped to third in the points after missing the event at Laguna Seca. Tom Sheehan (No. 97 Vixen Cycle Co./LTK/Cope Ford Mustang) sits fourth in the standings coming into this weekend’s race at his home track, just two points behind Prociuk.
